Prince Edward Island... surrounded by the moderating force of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, temperatures never get too cold or too hot.
Islanders love to talk about the weather, and we have four beautiful seasons to talk about! In the spring, farmers till the red soil, and the hills take on the palest green as the days get longer and warmer. Temperatures range from 10 to 18 degrees Celsius (45 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.)
Summers are all about sunshine and gentle breezes. It’s comfortably warm, and there is always a breeze to fan you. It’s t-shirt and shorts time with temperatures from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius (72 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit).
Then there are the vivid colours of fall as the leaves of maples, oaks and birches turn red and yellow. Days are mellow, and nights are so clear that you’ll be able to count the stars.
Island winters are cold and clear with short days and precipitation that can range from gentle snow showers to legendary blizzards. Temperatures range from -3 to -11 degrees Celsius (26 to -11 degrees Fahrenheit). Snowfalls start in earnest just before Christmas, and we can hardly wait to get outside for snowmobiling, down hill and cross-country skiing.
